I get a DNS error when I try to  logon to a site- it worked before?

What is DNS?

Why is my PC so slow?

This could be for several reasons the most probable are:

Of course there maybe other reasons, if you are having problems with the speed of your PC we would suggest contacting us we will carry out a full diagnostic check and in most cases repair any damage and return your PC in tiptop condition, and running smoothly again.

The first thing is to ring your ISP (Internet Service Provider) they will normally post messages reporting any disruption in your area and an estimated time for any repairs to be completed and a normal service resumption.

Secondly check that the cables are all connected, if there are no reported faults and the cables appear correct try switching the router off wait 30 sec’s and then switch back on again. This will often clear any problems, however you may require the assistance of an engineer as not all problems are resolved so easily.

Your PC or laptop hold a list of all the websites you visit, a little like the index at the beginning of a book which shows the page number, in the case of your PC its an IP Address which directs your computer to a specific location on the Internet. Sometimes a website may move location or disappear altogether, that's when you get this type of message, or you maybe having a problem connecting to the Internet.

To do this, go to the Command Prompt, this is normally in the Accessories folder, in the Programs List.

Once you have the window open which is normally black with white characters, type in the following: ipconfig  /flushdns and the hit the ENTER?RETURN button, remember to use a space between the “g” and the “/”.

Then try again to visit the website. If a website has moved location it could take upto 24hrs for the Internet to register its new location.

If you have a specific question that we have not covered please go to our contacts page and complete the online comments form we will respond to your request for assist, and maybe include your question and the solution as we update this section of the website.

The answer is with out doubt YES! When clients are looking for your website they will use common words or strings of words, and that’s what the search engines use, first names and family names are not great unless linked with something relating to the type of company, service or products you want to sell and advertise. So always incorporate the type of business in the domain name, its the first thing the search engines look at, they use what are called web crawlers to scan your website and select relevant words which are common to their dictionary or database.

Is the domain name I choose important?
